Another Studio Ghibli movie - Whisper of the heart!

Remember when I wrote about Spirited Away? The movie about Chichiro who'd got trapped into a ghost world.
Anyway... Today I will write about another movie from the same director as Spirited Away. The movie is called Whisper of the heart. The orginal title is Mimi wo Sumaseba (耳をすませば) wich means If you listen closely. The Swedish name of the movie is exactly like the orginal - Om du lyssnar noga.

Plot: Shizuku Tsukishima is a high school girl who loves reading books. One summer evening she looks through the checkout cards in her library books and notices a pattern: each book had previously been checked out by someone named "Seiji Amasawa".

Next day at school Shizuku forget a book and have to run back to get it, but when she’s back she notice that a boy has found it. She begs him to give it back. And so he does. But when he’s done that – he leave a comment about the song lyrics Shizuku had in the book. Shizuku gets very irritated.

One day at the train, Shizuku sees a large cat apparently traveling by itself. When it gets off, she follows it to an antique shop, where she sees a statue of a cat in formal clothing. The owner of the shop, Mr. Nishi, tells her the statue's name is Baron Humbert von Jikkingen. After a while of more story telling’s Shizuku remember the bento (lunch box) she had to give her dad at the library. She runs to the library but she forgets the lunch at the shop. But outside the library stood the boy she met the previous day . He have her bento and he gives it to her, comments how much food is in the box and rides away on his bike singing Shizuku song and leave her in a very irritated mood – again.

Later, Shizuku goes to visit the antique shop again and finds it closed. The boy shows up and lets her in to see The Baron. Now she found out that the boy is Seiji Amasawa.

And then the real story begins...

A lot of nerve wracking, lovely, funny and sad things happen. She wants to be an author. He wants to be a violin maker. They both have to fight for their dreams.  Both are they willing to work hard to reach their goal.

This movie is pure magic. It gives me a lot of courage to follow my own dreams. Studio Ghibli movies are usually very mystical and that’s a thing I really like.  Some things you can’t explain, some things you can. And that’s like the real life is.

Movie: Spirited Away

Spirited Away (2001) is a Japanese  animated fantasy-adventure movie.  The original title is 千と千尋の神隠し (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi.) Miyazaki Hayao written and directed it and, it was produced by Studio Ghibli. Countless of people over the world became to love Spirited Away. This movie has been translated to many languages, for example Swedish.

The movie tells the story of Ogino Chichiro (observe that last name comes before first name). She is a spoiled and sullen ten year old girl. One day her parents decide to move. Chichiro don’t like it. She sulk and really don’t like it. On the way to the new house the parents get lost. Chichiro and her parents become trapped in an alternate reality. In this reality there is only souls and monsters. Humans are not allowed to be there.

After her parents are turned into pigs by the witch Yubaba, Chichiro meet Haku. He tells her that the only way to save her parents and herself is to work for Yubaba in the bath house for souls and monsters.

And then the real story begins.

I really love this movie. It’s very simple yet so touching and wonderful. I really recommend you to watch it. Even if you don’t like Japanese animation, I promise you that you will like this one, anyway.
